For a client who loves spearfishing, we made a fully waterproof flipper foot. Thanks to an inbuilt adaptor, this fisho can walk right down to the water’s edge, swap the foot on his prosthetic leg and dive in. Then, another quick swap when he’s done gets him back on his way. https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/62b4e8f55d57ee7a29a79e0b/5997b4c8-3669-4cd3-8a26-df4f2fa5e892/M1.jpg Blog - When Standard Doesn’t Fit Your Hobby: Custom Prosthetic and Orthotic Solutions for the Things You Love For an avid surfer, we made this surfing leg with a foot that’s fully sealed with silicone to protect the internal components, paired with a custom silicone liner inside a carbon fibre socket. The result is a leg that can cop the salt water and sand but is fully washable. The perfect solution for life on the waves! https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/62b4e8f55d57ee7a29a79e0b/07215a03-dd78-48ae-89e1-63b09776bc3e/DSCF2853.jpg Blog - When Standard Doesn’t Fit Your Hobby: Custom Prosthetic and Orthotic Solutions for the Things You Love Feeding yourself is something most people rarely think about but when this ability is taken away, it can have a profound impact on independence and self-image. For one client, we made a socket to wear at mealtimes with a fork built in and bent to the angle a person would normally hold it. It is washable, and the fork can be removed for cleaning. Another simple yet effective custom device that helps someone to live their best! https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/62b4e8f55d57ee7a29a79e0b/fcc9cf05-f9fc-4e67-8a98-1c64d5f98fcc/X-TremityP%26O-101.jpg Blog - When Standard Doesn’t Fit Your Hobby: Custom Prosthetic and Orthotic Solutions for the Things You Love X-Tremity sees all types. Farmers, tradies, boaties, kids, campers - the lot. Sometimes, these folks can get a little dirty. That’s where silicone comes in! It’s the perfect material for outdoor and wet activities. It can be firm or soft, it’s hardwearing, it can get wet, salty, muddy and sweaty but comes good again after a wash with warm soapy water and a quick dry. With removable, machine washable straps, custom silicone devices like this hand brace are ideal for those in the muck, taking care of business. https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/62b4e8f55d57ee7a29a79e0b/1f37acce-e5cb-4dfc-b389-14b8291413b0/DSCF2493-2.jpg Blog - When Standard Doesn’t Fit Your Hobby: Custom Prosthetic and Orthotic Solutions for the Things You Love Just like the hand brace above, this one’s for those who aren’t afraid of a little dirty under the nails. Just like a normal carbon fibre or plastic AFO, this silicone version provides the support required to assist with a range of conditions while being super comfortable to wear and right at home in the outdoors, ready for whatever you can throw at it. https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/62b4e8f55d57ee7a29a79e0b/1792110850040-2S1UHAZ3IXFKMYRZ9Z5S/X-TremityP%26O-61.jpg Blog - When Standard Doesn’t Fit Your Hobby: Custom Prosthetic and Orthotic Solutions for the Things You Love https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/62b4e8f55d57ee7a29a79e0b/1792111104718-HC3AZ4HC56T0TWNF2AN6/DSCF5770.jpg Blog - When Standard Doesn’t Fit Your Hobby: Custom Prosthetic and Orthotic Solutions for the Things You Love https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/62b4e8f55d57ee7a29a79e0b/1792111155803-D9G7M18KFB61JJ081479/X-TremityP%26O-74.jpg Blog - When Standard Doesn’t Fit Your Hobby: Custom Prosthetic and Orthotic Solutions for the Things You Love https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/62b4e8f55d57ee7a29a79e0b/1792110987971-0MX0ZAF0JVSWA5K1Q8YC/X-Tremity+Prosthetics+%26+Orthotics-54.jpg Blog - When Standard Doesn’t Fit Your Hobby: Custom Prosthetic and Orthotic Solutions for the Things You Love https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/62b4e8f55d57ee7a29a79e0b/1792110864096-BTAQ3AFHWZA7KU5GV420/X-Tremity+Prosthetics+%26+Orthotics-49.jpg Blog - When Standard Doesn’t Fit Your Hobby: Custom Prosthetic and Orthotic Solutions for the Things You Love https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/62b4e8f55d57ee7a29a79e0b/1792111138506-77U66LWNRM0ZPB9I193K/DSCF5346-3.jpg Blog - When Standard Doesn’t Fit Your Hobby: Custom Prosthetic and Orthotic Solutions for the Things You Love https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/62b4e8f55d57ee7a29a79e0b/1792110908035-QQOQ2AM9UP8ILVO2RQM9/BlueSocket.jpg Blog - When Standard Doesn’t Fit Your Hobby: Custom Prosthetic and Orthotic Solutions for the Things You Love https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/62b4e8f55d57ee7a29a79e0b/1792110898699-X28Q3NALJBJNWAU69GR8/I3.jpg Blog - When Standard Doesn’t Fit Your Hobby: Custom Prosthetic and Orthotic Solutions for the Things You Love https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/62b4e8f55d57ee7a29a79e0b/1792111012763-X1KY3UF1KTDR53UDGWCT/L3.jpg Blog - When Standard Doesn’t Fit Your Hobby: Custom Prosthetic and Orthotic Solutions for the Things You Love https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/62b4e8f55d57ee7a29a79e0b/1792111175350-MT49F5Z8DLDF8O3FIHJK/C2.jpg Blog - When Standard Doesn’t Fit Your Hobby: Custom Prosthetic and Orthotic Solutions for the Things You Love https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/62b4e8f55d57ee7a29a79e0b/44bac06a-0aa4-4e4d-97b8-a42f99e5edd5/X-TremityP%26O-103.jpg Blog - When Standard Doesn’t Fit Your Hobby: Custom Prosthetic and Orthotic Solutions for the Things You Love You may have seen 'bionic hands' in the news.
